Quigley's Village: The Great Treehouse Disaster; Quigley's Village: The Super Shoot-For-The-Stars Spaceship; The Quigleys Village Singalong

New to the Zondervan Video label, Quigley's Village: The Great Treehouse Disaster and Quigley's Village: The Super Shoot-For-The-Stars Spaceship, two episodes of the popular Christian television program Quigley's Village, offer moral lessons and Christian inspiration within the context of engaging children's stories. Mr. Quigley, a kindly Mr. Rogers type, lives in a village with a bunch of animal puppet friends who often struggle with ethical problems that lead to turmoil and confusion followed by a Christian solution and resolution. In The Great Treehouse Disaster, the village learns about cooperation as Danny, Bubba, Spike, Lemon, and other characters all work from their own personal plan while building the treehouse (rather than getting together and making a general blueprint). And in The Super Shoot For-The-Stars Spaceship, the gang gets a lesson in responsibility when the proceeds from a lemonade sale are just enough to buy a fancy spaceship that the animals want or replace the lemonade pitcher (borrowed from Mr. Quigley) that was accidentally broken. As in Quigley's Village Christmas (reviewed in our November 1992 issue), the productions are lively, loaded with songs, and laced with Christian reverence. A third title: Quigley's Village: Spike and the Silly, Mixed-Up Sleepover is also available. The Quigley's Village Sing Along features 14 songs from the three above mentioned videos which incorporate traditional values ("Sharing") and Christian ethics ("Prayer Is Talking, Prayer Is Listening"). Although the songs themselves stand alone, viewers will certainly recognize that they come from other programs. Too, in footage shot expressly for this program, Mr. Quigley and his animal friends introduce each one of the songs and explain the circumstances surrounding the song. While not in the same league as the McGee & Me series, the Quigley's Village series is still a good Christian children's video series. Recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
