Ready Set Learn! Try, Try Again!

This preschool-friendly compilation includes episodes from three Discovery Kids-aired Ready Set Learn series: Paz, Wilbur, and The Save-Ums. Penguin puppet host Paz kicks off with a Frisbee-balancing game with friends that emphasizes the importance of starting slow and working your way up. Well-read “books are ‘moovelous'” to calf Wilbur and his duck buddy, who explore the aviation history of the famous Wright brothers in “The Wright Stuff,” which features clips of real-life kids. Finally, the Save-Ums help a cephalopod sort out its shoelaces in “Untangle that Octopus” (an adventure that is just not in the same league with the similarly-themed Wonder Pets series). DVD extras on Try, Try Again include a trio of bonus episodes from Bigfoot Presents: Meteor and the Mighty, ToddWorld, and Peep and the Big Wide World, as well as music videos from Wilbur, Hi-5, and Hip Hop Harry, along with a 30-page booklet aimed at helping parents “develop your child's emotional intelligence.” An uneven hodgepodge, this is an optional purchase.
