Richard Scarry's well-loved picture books make a wonderful transition to video in these two fully animated, colorful productions. In Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever!, the kids at Busytown School learn the letters of the alphabet during Alphabet Day through the use of familiar words and funny stories. Scarry's wonderful characters--Lowly Worm, Banana Gorillas, Sergeant Murphy, etc. -are on hand to illustrate the various letters, with a running mystery-chase story concerning Bananas and some "stolen" bananas which isn't solved until the end of the alphabet. In Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video Ever., children watch as Lily Bunny has her counting day. Starting with one, and working her way up to twenty, Lily must find different sets of characters and things around Busytown to count. Fortunately, Huckle Cat, Lowly Worm, Wrong-Way Roger, and other Scarry favorites, turn up to help her along. These faithful video adaptations of children's classics virtually spring to life with a multimedia educational punch that will have pre-schoolers singing the alphabet and learning to count, quickly. Both titles are highly recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
