Narrated by Erin Bennett, Ron Butler, and Pierce Cravens, this animated adaptation of author Adam Rex and illustrator Christian Robinson's 2016 picture book kicks off with the building of Frederick Douglass Elementary, an anthropomorphic school who thinks "That's a good name for me!" "School" commiserates with "Janitor," who cautions that "It won't be just us for long." School feels trepidation about the kids running rampant, especially the ones who talk about school being crummy, and he squirts one kid in the face at the water fountain (although he does feel bad after doing so). Offering a fresh take on first day jitters, this adaptation of the ALA Notable Book—also featuring read-along and descriptive video options—is recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
