Jinkies! Corny cartoon canine Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. quartet jump right into super-sleuthing mode when an overseas visit to Daphne's ancestral Scottish home morphs into--you guessed it--a search for the Loch Ness Monster. Visiting Daphne's cousin Shannon at Blake Castle, the gang becomes involved when plans for the impending Loch Ness Highland Games--a competition of traditional Scottish sporting events to be held at the castle--are jeopardized when “Nessie” trashes the contest field. As always, Scooby, Shaggy (voiced by Casey Kasem), Velma (Mindy Cohn, The Facts of Life), and the crew are quick to help, and the standard silly chase sequences, close calls, and misunderstandings ensue, while Fred boasts newfound slang (“da bomb diggity”), and--gasp--Scooby and Shaggy turn up their noses at food (they hate the regional delicacy "haggis"). DVD extras include the bonus featurettes “National Geographic's Inside Scoop” and “How to Solve the Mystery with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy,” as well as three games. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
