Ah, the time-worn excuse: "The dog ate my homework!" Ah, the time-worn critics' phrase: "The dog was the best actor!" Alas, it is all too true in this low-budget tale of Stevie, a typical ADD kid. Actually, he's never called that, even though he's easily distracted, very energetic, and highly creative (perhaps it's because, judging from the hairstyles and clothing, an ADD diagnosis wasn't popular yet). Sylvester, the family dog, narrates the tale (his is the only good audio in the whole production; everything else has that suspicious camera-mic sound), informing us that Stevie never does his homework and always lies about it, until he's threatened with being held back. Finally, Stevie kicks into high gear and--hold your breath--actually does his homework for a single night! Of course, Sylvester eats it to "teach him a lesson about honesty" but later fakes sickness so Stevie can dupe his parents into a vet visit so they can get x-rays which will show the homework and...oh wait! Did I just use the words "fake" and "dupe" about a video that is supposed to be about honesty? Oh well, then I guess the bad adult role models won't really matter either. Not recommended. Aud: E, I.
