Geared towards ages 7-13, this brief program provides a fine selection of tips and reminders for latchkey kids through somewhat amateurish illustrative vignettes and a “round table” discussion featuring classroom kids prepped with lines. After pointing out that 3.5 million U.S. kids spend, on average, an hour alone each day, teen presenters Paula and Tunde tackle a wide variety of issues and solutions (related to fear of being left home alone, backup plans, avoiding strangers, etc.), interacting with the audience through questions (“How do you handle it?” “What was your scariest time alone?”). In addition, young viewers will receive valuable suggestions on topics ranging from memorizing important numbers and learning first aid to avoiding stovetop cooking. Low-budget, but practical overall, this is recommended. Aud: E, I, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
