The Aussie children's entertainer quartet--Anthony, Jeff, Murray, and Greg--join up with old friends (like pirate Captain Feathersword and flower-eating Dorothy the Dinosaur), reindeer and elf dancers, the “Great Big Man in Red,” and other special guests for a Christmassy celebration. Performing a bevy of Wiggly tunes (“Reindeer Dance,” “Ring the Bells,” “Dorothy's Christmas Roses”) and traditional songs (“O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Silent Night,” “Away in a Manager”), the gang also gets a little help from their special guest songster friends, including John Fogerty and Barry Williams (clad in a gold-spangled shirt, the former Greg Brady garners extra laughs in a Brady Bunch parody during the credits). Also featuring a segment with an el mariachi player and his sons (who sing “Feliz Navidad” and reflect on Mexican holiday customs), a nativity scene recreated with kids, and a few tame religious overtones with clips of church activities, this program is ultimately more about Santa shakin' his booty than about any one faith. Although they may seem cloyingly sweet to some, I love the Wiggles' sugary, high-energy, holiday spirit. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
