The Wiggles are, in a phrase, the Beatles for three-year-olds. This Australian quartet wears monochromatic skivvies that bring to mind extras from a Star Trek episode, sing happy, peppy songs about roosters and ducks and dinosaur birthdays, and dance energetically with what look like NBA mascots, namely: Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and Barney, oops, I mean, Dorothy the Dinosaur. Upbeat and chipper to an extreme, this is one of those videos that will cause some to bite their teething rings with wild enthusiasm while parents opt for some quiet time wiggling and giggling in the other room. The video concludes with the Wiggles performing “in concert” in front of thousands of tykes and their tired mothers in a sold out, giant concert hall. Fitting into the tight wiggle room between Barney and the Backstreet Boys, the Wiggles video will be hypnotic to those too young to read this review and probably will be tolerated by the rest of us. Recommended, from the other room with the sound down. Aud: K, P. (R. Ray)
