Was it just last week I noticed two little boys watching a cement truck and bulldozer on my corner for two hours? There's no denying the fascination kids have with big, loud, crunching power, and this tape gives them plenty. Dumptruck Dave, a likable doofus, goes to a truck dispatch center, stops in at a rock quarry, checks out a road building project nearby, and introduces us to all kinds of construction vehicles. Young viewers will see and learn about rock crushers and paving machines, among many others, while Dave acts goofier than any kid. He winds up his experiences in construction with a big pitch for the public library, too. It's charming, educational, reasonably priced, and could bear repeated viewings, which no doubt will please Tonka fans in the family. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. (E. Druda)
