This festive outing featuring Thomas the tank engine and the other talking engines of the Island of Sodor includes six holiday-themed adventures adapted from The Railway Series by Rev. W. Awdry, with the narration duties split between “storytellers” George Carlin (who voiced from 1991-95) and Alec Baldwin (from 1995 forward). Train-yard tales here include “It's Only Snow” (Thomas hates his awkward snowplow, but manages to deliver a village's special Christmas tree safely without it), “Jack Frost” (the gang tries to scare Percy by making Jack Frost seem frightening, but the plan backfires when James stumbles upon a frozen, sinister-looking Percy), and the avalanche drama “Snow." The other merry segments here are: “Toby Had a Little Lamb,” “Thomas' Christmas Party,” “Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree,” and the music video “Winter Wonderland.” DVD extras include three games, a sing-along, “Sodor Special Delivery” character letter segments, and weblinks. Recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams)
