In this mostly entertaining compilation, singing animated hosts introduce each of the continents: Alexander Salamander for Europe, Savannah the Crowned Crane for Africa, Mai Lin the Yak for Asia, Cuddly Wuddly Wombat for Australia and New Zealand, Sven the Penguin for Antarctica, Osvaldo the Soccer Otter for South America, and The Twin Raccoons for North America. Each provides a very brief musical overview of the given continent, which is necessary since only two countries are featured from each. The choices are a bit curious and certainly not based on population. Quick! Think of two countries in Asia. Bet they weren't--Turkey and Nepal. Two countries in Africa! Egypt and--Mali? Europe is represented by England and France, though the songs are about the cities of London and Paris. South America is represented by Brazil and Ecuador, with Brazil rating two songs--about the Amazon and Carnival--with the latter featuring an excruciating line about a “four day celebration for Jesus, the Christian Savior.” Um, it's quite the opposite. Although there's not enough educational merit here to warrant consideration by schools, this is an optional choice for public libraries.
