Winnie the Pooh and his animal friends living in the Hundred Acre Wood enjoy mildly spooky adventures in this 70-minute program comprised of the previously released Frankenpooh (1995) and Spookable Pooh (1996), serving up a total of five episodes between them. Frankenpooh includes "The Monster Frankenpooh," in which Tigger tries to add spice and suspenseful flair to a tepid story told by meek Piglet; "Things That Go Piglet in the Night," which finds the group unintentionally scared by an eerie, characteristically low-spirited Eeyore; and "Pooh Moon," built around a camp out with the usual tall tales that takes a rather scary turn. Spookable Pooh features "A Knight to Remember," a fanciful yarn that "transports" the gang on a dreary, rainy day into the make-believe world of Chessland (where Rabbit is the wizard, Piglet is the knight, etc.); and "Rock-A-Bye Pooh Bear," in which Piglet is so unnerved by a bad dream that he keeps himself awake until the Hundred Acre posse comes up with a plan to help him catch those z's. Enjoyably familiar and sure to be popular with the legion of Pooh fans (big and little), this is definitely recommended. [Note: DVD extras include an interactive "Piglet's Hallowasn't Game" and Tigger's "I Wanna Scare Myself" sing-along song.] Aud: P. (J. Williams)
