Aired on Nick Jr.'s preschool programming block, this animated compilation includes six episodes of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, starring ebullient Wubbzy (voiced by Grey DeLisle), handy pal Widget (Lara Jill Miller), and smarty-pants Walden (Carlos Alazraqui). “A Tale of Tails” finds Wubbzy disenchanted when other kids don't want to play “kickety kickball” with him because of his “kooky and wacky” tail…until Wubbzy learns from Widget and Walden that his appendage can actually be rather useful. Also included are: “Special Delivery” (Wubbzy opens Walden's package, accidentally ruining the toy train inside, which leads to a “Look, Look, Look, Don't Touch” song), the tortoise-and-hare-reminiscent “Widget's Wild Ride,” “Attack of the 50-Foot Fleegle” (about reading directions carefully), “Come Spy with Me,” and “Wubbzy Tells a Whopper” (featuring the cautionary tune “Don't Lie”). The abstract animation (odd shapes, squared-off trees, etc.) works well here, and the high jinks, sound effects, and interactive nods (“help me chase the flutterfly!”) will appeal to the young target audience. DVD extras include two bonus episodes, a music video, and games. Recommended. Aud: K, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
