'Man behaving badly' Alfie Elkins (Michael Caine, in his breakout lady-killer role) sets out to clip as many 'birds' as he can, until the ramifications of his philandering ways come back to haunt him. Paramount calls the film "a ribald and wild comedy, filled with sex and sin," but while I'm sure this was pretty controversial stuff in 1966 (complete with a backroom abortionist played by Denholm Elliott), I'm afraid today's answer to the famous "what's it all about?" question is "not much." Sporting little extra, beyond the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, Alfie is an optional purchase, mainly for Caine's performance and its importance to that period in British films. P.S.--In case you forgot, as I did, then 19-year-old Cher sings the title track. (S. C. Sickles)
