Stars: Robert Davi (License to Kill, Predator 2), Rae Dawn Chong (Far Out, Man!, Curiosity Kills). Although you wouldn't know it from the box cover--which features Robert Davi and Rae Dawn Chong looking a lot like Sean Connery and Lorraine Bracco on the cover of Medicine Man--the star of Amazon is a Finnish actor named Kari Vaananen. Kari plays a guy named Kari, a businessman who is being pursued (by whom and for what we never learn). Kari and his two daughters find themselves stranded in the Brazilian rainforest where they are befriended by bush pilot Dan (Davi). Dan is a can-do kind of guy ("Look, I'm an American; I see things the way they are,") whose main job is to provide a totally unnecessary voiceover narration that sounds a bit like an environmentally-conscious Sam Spade who is also an ESL student. Basically, Kari and Dan dream about moving their stalled Caterpillar to a new mining site, while Rae Dawn Chong (who only has a few scenes) cautions both of them about the destruction of the rainforest. For a message movie, Amazon sends out garbled signals (the hero gets his turf-chewing Cat at film's end), and tosses in bad acting and little action as a bonus. A portion of every sale will be donated to the Rainforest Action Network. But we recommend you buy Rainforest Crunch as an alternative--at least that tastes good. Audience: Nobody.
