Inspired by a true crime in Brazil, this bizarre modern-day Bonnie and Clyde tells the tragic story of Sandra (Cristina Ache) and Tony (Paulo Guarnieri). 17-year-old Sandra dances with Solange in a live sex show; Tony is a bisexual kid, who's been hustling gays for money to live on. As their love affair ripens, the city is gripped with fear: a serial killer is ruthlessly murdering taxi cab drivers. Sandra's father, Inspector Galvao (Paulo Gracindo) is trying to solve the case, and get his daughter off the street. Eventually, it becomes clear that the father, the daughter, and the lover are the unwitting legs of a triangle that's about to close. Released after director Bruno Baretto's popular sex farce Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, this follow-up is neither as polished nor as self-assured as Dona, yet the psychological friction--particularly between father and daughter--keeps the viewer interested throughout. Recommended for libraries with larger foreign film collections.
