The title of this collection of four episodes from the third season (1995) of the animated Spider-Man series is misleading. Spidey and Daredevil have an introductory misunderstanding, perhaps, but they are actually good guy allies in a battle against the criminal mastermind, Kingpin. The episodes "Framed" and "The Man Without Fear" aired as part of the epic 14-episode "Sins of the Father" story arc, in which Peter Parker, accused of being a traitor, struggles to clear his name, while his blind attorney Matt Murdock (who fights crime by night as Daredevil) and Kingpin struggle with primal father-son issues. Daredevil does not figure in the other two episodes, "The Ultimate Slayer" and "Tombstone." This disc also contains two bonus cartoons: a Fantastic Four episode featuring Daredevil, and a 1966 Spider-Man episode featuring Kingpin, as well as optional introductions to each episode by Spidey creator Stan Lee. From the richly drawn heroes and villains to the involving stories, this is, to quote Lee, "a notch above." Recommended. Aud: P. (K. Lee Benson)
