Slayers: Gorgeous

A genuinely funny entry in the popular Slayers anime series, Gorgeous finds dragonslayer/brassy warrior Lina Inverse and her buxom pal Naga the sorceress wandering (as is their wont) into a strange town where they are bemused by the locals. While munching down something that looks like tacos, the gals get caught in the middle of a dragon attack led by Marlene, estranged daughter of the warrior Culvert, who once drove fire-breathing beasties from the land. Not surprisingly, mercenaries Lina and Naga end up on opposite ends of the fight. What distinguishes this particular episode is an exquisite sense of comic timing and constantly upended expectations, such as when Marlene's dragons vanish from an imminent fight at the mere mention of Lina's name.
