Stars: Chow Yun-Fat, Danny Lee, Sally Yeh, Chu Kong. Would Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme please report Wimp City immediately? Hong Kong writer/director John Woo pulls out all the stops in this outstanding entertainment which masterfully mixes some of the mast outrageously stylized shootouts ever committed to celluloid with a grab-you-by-the guts story. Chow Yun-Fat stars as Jeff, a hitman who accidentally half-blinds a nightclub singer named Jenny (Yeh). His conscience spurs him to perform one more contract in order to pay for an eye operation. But after the killing, Jeff's employers decide they want to ice him rather than pay him. And, to make matters worse, Inspector Li (Lee), one tough cop, is on his tail. With Jeff desperately trying to collect his money, Jennies eyesight failing by the hour, and the dedicated cop breathing down his neck, things don't look too good for Jeff. Then again, he is the hottest two-fisted shooter to come down the pike in a long time. What Evil Dead II did for horror movies, what The Road Warrior did for road movies, The Killer does for the action film. It's classy, it's relentless, and it's a definite winner. Audience: Action fans and movie lovers.
