Stars: Scott Valentine (TV's "Family Ties," My Demon Lover), Charlie Spradling (Wild at Heart, Puppet Master II). Although it's a bit thin on story, this Golden Scroll Award winner from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, has style and wit to spare. Scott Valentine stars as a rather unusual vampire with a conscience. He doesn't feed until he's on the brink of starvation, and then he only chooses victims who are suicidal. Stopping off at a strip joint, the vampire catches Nina's (Charlie Spradling) act, and watches as she tries to swallow a vial full of pills backstage. After charming Nina (who, after all, has nothing to lose), the vampire takes her to his apartment and begs her to describe what the "day" is like. Eventually, Nina learns that just before sun-up she's going to become breakfast, and she must decide whether she really wants to die...or live, if she can escape. To Sleep With a Vampire offers some wonderfully touching moments in its offbeat character portrayals as well as a heavy dose of eroticism (the love scene between Valentine and Spradling is everything that the laughable Bram Stoker's Dracula isn't). Credit goes to Adam Friedman's stylish direction, and Patricia Harrington's script, which puts a modern twist on the classic gothic romance. Audience: Vampire interest is very high and this one's the best of the lot.
