A concise, emotionally powerful Canadian documentary about partner abuse, A Love That Kills delivers its message through a series of vignettes illustrating scenes from the life of Monica, a 19-year-old young woman whose boyfriend abuses her emotionally, financially, physically, and finally kills her. Interspersed throughout are clips of Monica's mother explaining to teenagers the symptoms of partner abuse and offering suggestions for action. Although the price is relatively high for a 19 minute program, this is an excellent film on an important topic, and is therefore highly recommended for larger high school and academic collections, especially those without similar fare such as Dating Violence and Abuse (VL-7/00). Aud: H, P. (K. G. Schneider)
