Since Lincoln authorized the Medal of Honor to be given to those individuals who risked their lives in battle conditions to save the lives of others, over 3,300 awards have been issued. This documentary is a combination of the story of those wars and conflicts that the U.S. has been engaged in since the Civil War, and the story of the military men (and one woman) who have distinguished themselves during those unfortunate times of strife. Viewers are shown the circumstances which brought medals to such men as Eddie Rickenbacker, Audie Murphy, and Jimmy Doolittle, as well as some of the more contemporary heroes of Vietnam: Fred Ferguson, Jimmie Howard, and Nick Bacon. This should be very popular with military aficionados. Recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
