On the evening of September 15, 1999, the residents of the small Texas community of Wedgwood experienced a nightmare when a man named Larry Ashbrook burst into the sanctuary of the Baptist Church during a youth meeting and went on a shooting spree. Before committing suicide, Ashbrook killed seven people and wounded seven others. Narrated by actor Richard Thomas, …And a Time to Heal explores how a small religious community put their shattered lives back together after a terrible tragedy. Viewers meet survivors and family members who recall the shooting and the lives of each of the victims, while also testifying to their reliance upon one another and their faith in God to heal. While sensitively dealing with the violence of the shootings and the grief-filled aftermath, the program dwells more on the healing process brought about by the positive attitudes and faith of the church members.
