Big Horse

Did you know that because of a common love of horses, an American got to shoe Japanese Emperor Hirohito's war horse? This story is one of many tidbits we learn from two amiable Percherons, Smitty and Spike, who give us a look at the life of a draft horse through their humorous narration and original sing-along songs. We meet their other big draft horse friends, go to a state fair, see how they do field work, and join them in shows and competitions. In between, we are presented with a surprisingly in-depth history of the interaction of horse and man, with stock footage of everything from wars to the beginnings of American agriculture. Chock-full of vocabulary, facts, and a ton of horse images, this video will be most enjoyed by die-hard equine lovers.
