This small film focuses on the New Jersey resort destination Wildwood by the Sea, south of Atlantic City, or more specifically, Wildwood's two-mile boardwalk--which runs along the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean-Delaware Bay--and the supposedly colorful characters who travel its wooden boards. To the outside observer, the people here are a fairly quotidian bunch--nice enough, to be certain, but not exactly fascinating folks--and Boardwalk is more travelogue than documentary, albeit well-made and well-intended, with plenty of artistic touches (the boardwalk in the rain, at dawn, in winter, seen from the apex of a ferris wheel, etc.). But filmmakers Joseph Van Blunk and Gustave Rosanio don't seem to understand that at 48 minutes they are milking a subject that simply doesn't warrant that much attention. After a while, Boardwalk becomes a bored walk. Not recommended. Aud: P. (P. Hall)
