This somewhat dated 1993 documentary is a promotional piece for the city of Chattanooga, funded by the Krystal Company (hamburgers), so viewers looking for the underside of the city will not find it here. Despite these drawbacks, however, this short video offers a hopeful example to older cities in need of renovation and community action. In 1984, Chattanooga suffered from terrible air pollution, a decaying downtown, and poor morale. In that year, the town's "Vision 2000" planning began, and in less than a decade, the city experienced a remarkable renaissance, with a Riverwalk and Tennessee River Park for music and picnics, a new aquarium to attract tourists and school groups, the renovation of the grand old Tivoli Theater downtown, and the construction of new low income homes and other projects sponsored by Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise. In 1993, "Revision 2000" again solicited community input, from teenagers to the elderly, in a model of urban planning. (M. Pendergrast)
