During the "Ozzie and Harriet--Father Knows Best--Dan Quayle" heyday of family rearing, bringing up baby was a family (1 stay-at-home Mother + 1 office-working Father = 2.5 Happy Children) affair. With the advent of women's lib, birth control, and technological advances, the social ethos surrounding marriage and divorce changed drastically. No-fault divorce, individual fulfillment and second chances were luxuries suddenly affordable to everyone with a promise ring. This program takes an in-depth look at the painful effects divorce has on the children, the social and economic woes of a broken marriage, anti-divorce law reform and the blended family, suggesting--ultimately--that we turn back the clock a bit and re-embrace traditional values so that we're not throwing the baby out with the murky water of bad marriages. A very conservative look at the future of the family unit, this is strongly recommended. (N. Plympton)
