Creating Mobile Apps

This two-disc series (also available separately as Creating Mobile Apps: Mobile App Research and Planning and Creating Mobile Apps: Mobile App Development and Deployment) illustrates the framework for developing mobile app software on the Apple and Android platforms (Microsoft and BlackBerry are not covered), presenting the information in a manner accessible to the layperson, while also including information that will engage the more technically minded, even those with some experience in this area. From inspiration to appearance in the app store, Creating Mobile Apps covers all of the crucial project steps in a logical fashion, combining graphics and interviews with app developers (including some from small companies) who demystify the process for novices and reinforce the best practices for those already in the game. Viewers will learn that creating an “intuitive” solution for those on the receiving end will most likely mean months spent designing the overall functionality and user experience (using “wireframes”—a sort of flow-charting for software development), followed by repeated testing to see how the app interacts with the technological back end and user front end. Also addressed are the requirements for making the finished product available in the marketplace—in this case via Apple's iTunes Store and the Android Market.
