In Hertfordshire, England, the first sighting of a crop circle is described in a pamphlet in 1678. A Crop circle occurs when a field of wheat, barley, flowers, etc. is flattened to form a pattern, usually a spiral shape. Also known as spiral flattening, crop circles are formed at night and now number over 1,000 sightings in various countries.
Many beautiful designs are shown in the film. Researchers in this film provide evidence to show that these structures are too sophisticated to have been created overnight using today’s technology.
The film’s narrators acknowledge that 20% of the crop circles are hoaxes. Doug Bower and Dave Charly openly admit they created some of the crop circles in England prior to 1987 using ropes. However, biophysicist W.C. Levengood studied stalks for ten years and discovers that the stalks were exposed to electromagnetic radiation making them supple and able to bend without breaking.
Gary King—expert researcher, and crop circle historian—tells the story of John Weyleigh who conducts a night watch in 1996, at Oliver’s Castle in England. Using a camcorder, John captures white orbs circling the field in the middle of the night and the next day crop circles are evident. King attempts his own experiment on July 7, 2007, in the East Field, Wiltshire, England with a fellow researcher. That night, with enhanced imaging, they can see the formations come to life and enter the field at 4:36 a.m. to walk in the sets of circles appearing like three necklaces extending 1,033 feet long by 500 feet wide.
Josue Hernandez, a special effects analyst, and crop circles expert said the spheres or orbs that people have witnessed move lightly and quickly over the crops, and the technology to create such complex circles so rapidly is beyond today’s capability. In 2018 a tourist captures a video of orbs flying over and around Niagara Falls. Orbs are also seen in Russia and elsewhere.
Hernandez states why the crop circles are not made by man: the designs are perfect; they are formed at night; they are complex; and, they are large--plus, no one has proven they can construct such feats so quickly without lights and leaving no human trace. Hernandez offers $100K for anyone who can show that the crop circles can be constructed by humans. Wiltshire Museum in England contains an exquisite exhibition of crop circles not known to be man-made.
The final section of the film discusses whether crop circles are a form of communication from aliens, as some of the crop circles seem to be communicating messages. With persuasive narration by Geoffrey D. Calhoun and other crop circles authorities, this film directed by Darcy Weir makes an interesting case that human beings are not alone in the universe.
