The idea of dying is terrifying and depressing to many people. Mark Krigbaum's documentary centers on cultural anthropologist and scientist Dr. Marilyn Schlitz, who seeks to mitigate the fears surrounding death. Schlitz is joined by Dr. Deepak Chopra in her quest to determine why the prospect of dying generates such a negative reaction. Death Makes Life Possible is rich with personal stories of upbeat individuals in poor health whose lives are coming to a close, and it also looks into reports of encounters beyond death. But while intelligent and intriguing, this is essentially a series of talking head interviews that makes for a rather monotonous visual experience. Still, the points being raised here are deserving of attention, so consider this a strong optional purchase. Aud: C, P. (P. Hall)
