This new title from the high-def filmed Discoveries… America National Parks by filmmakers Jim and Kelly Watt explores two of Florida's gems: the Everglades and Biscayne. Combining stunning visuals together with interviews with rangers and other experts, the program features compelling stories about the history of the featured parks and regions. Viewers will hear a grisly tale of trade and conquest in colonial times, witness the majesty of lift-off at nearby Cape Canaveral, and tour a “schooner wreck” full of maritime mysteries and vibrant coral reefs. The Everglades is Florida's largest national park, home to an amazing diversity of wildlife, including rare and endangered species such as the American crocodile and the Florida panther, while Biscayne's mostly underwater domain offers some of the best snorkeling in the U.S. (within sight of urban Miami). Also visited are such landmarks as the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and other forts dating from the Spanish colonial era. Sure to delight armchair travelers as well as those planning trips, this is recommended. Aud: P. (C. Block)
