Most people love dolphins. Watching these sleek creatures leap and cavort in the water is a pure delight, and their popularity extends far back into history where they were worshipped by the Greeks and immortalized in art by the Egyptians. Today, these chattering mammals are movie stars, theme park attractions, and the subject of study by marine biologists around the world. This particular video focuses on studies done on Spotted Dolphins in the Bahamas and offers a rare glimpse into their everyday lives. Dolphin feeding, hunting, and breeding habits are discussed, along with an interesting explanation of how echolocation helps them to ‘see' great distances underwater in order to locate food and avoid predators. This is a well-done and beautifully photographed look at some of the most beloved animals in existence. Recommended. A much less expensive look at dolphins, In The Wild: Dolphins with Robin Williams (VL-5/96) is available from PBS Home Video for $19.95. Aud: H, C, P. (J. Carlson)
