"No more diets," says author Jane Hirschmann. Already, I'm intrigued. Using a TV talk show format, this program presents Hirschmann discussing with host Marilyn Benoit the state of war between women and food in today's society: we all feel fat (no matter what we weigh); diets don't work (and often end in a binge); and people today are fatter (than ever). Even though these insights are pretty much what's said in the latest Weight Watchers pamphlets, the program does go on to counsel viewers on learning how to separate food from anxiety, and relate it to hunger instead. Guest and host discuss various strategies to achieve that end, and take phoned in questions from the viewing audience as well. While the information presented is interesting, the cable TV talking head format means a less tightly scripted treatment of the subject than is optimum. Still, this is recommended for larger health collections. A companion video, Eating Disorders Afflicting Mind, Body & Soul: Understanding Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating, is also available at the same price. Aud: P. (E. Druda)
