Some are lazy and glassy while others gush white water, but all the lakes and rivers featured here give the viewer a hankerin' to get out for a paddle. Gorgeous videography highlights these profiles of Lake Champlain in the Adirondacks, the Nolichucky River between Tennessee and North Carolina, Boundary Waters in Minnesota and Ontario, Utah's Canyonlands and Lake Powell, the Colorado River in Arizona, the Yellowstone River in Montana, and Oregon's Rogue River. A good deal of attention is paid to the fishing and camping opportunities along with non-power boating at each locale, and natural history and environmental concerns. While this is an obvious choice for public libraries, schools might also find this a useful addition, since teachers could create a fine science unit about lakes and rivers' geographic locations and physical environments. This visually rich program is highly recommended. Other titles in the series include: Grand Waterways and Historic Rivers & Lakes. (R. Reagan)
