Not for the faint of heart, Finding Resolution presents the stories of families of homicide victims and their experiences with the criminal justice system, focusing in particular on the emotional, legal, and cathartic steps of those facing the difficult choice of whether or not to attend the execution of the man or woman who has killed a loved one. Interviews with families, victim advocates, prosecutors, and corrections staff are featured throughout, as the program charts the various stages in the process--from reactions of family members to court sentencing, to the lengthy appeals process during which emotions often run high as crime photos and painful testimony are revisited, re-opening wounds. In addition to the frustrations of "the long wait," family members must also make a decision about attending the execution (and the program includes a segment devoted to what witnesses would witness), asking themselves whether it will bring them a sense of closure. A well-thought out, well-produced video on an unusual, if painful, subject, offering a very different viewpoint from Journey Towards Forgiveness (VL-7/02), this is highly recommended. Aud: P. (J. Asala)
