Not something you'd want to try in your own home, this documentary about windsurfing is an exhilarating look at what is fast becoming one of our nation's most popular watersports. Shot during the. summer of .1987 along the Columbia River Gorge in Washington.and Oregon, this visually .stunning documentary features eye-opening footage of windsurfers sailing in 40-60 knot winds, at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, doing acrobatic loops 6-8 feet off the water. In addition to watching windsurfers, the video contains a substantial amount of advice and instruction, on everything from getting out of the water to different types of boards and sails. And children's artist Tim Noah steps out of character to do an original rock number "Awesome." The excellent video and audio, as well as the fast paced subject, make this a good choice for public libraries. Recommended.
