This three-disc set combines a well-oiled reunion concert spread over two discs together with a feature-length tour documentary. Filmed in 2007 in Rome's Circo Massimo, Genesis kicks off with “Turn It on Again,” after which singer/drummer Phil Collins introduces the lineup: Tony Banks (keyboards), Mike Rutherford (lead guitar), Daryl Stuermer (guitar), and Chester Thompson (drums). Altogether, the band performs 24 numbers—including hits such as “Land of Confusion,” “Invisible Touch,” “Mama,” and “Throwing It All Away”—though some songs appear in abbreviated form, while the duet between Collins and Thompson, “Conversations with 2 Stools,” is more of a jam. The “Cage Medley” incorporates “In the Cage,” “The Cinema Show,” and “Duke's Travels,” while a “Follow You, Follow Me” medley works in “Firth of Fifth” and “I Know What I Like.” Throughout, a high-resolution backdrop spanning the width of the stage flashes graphic images ranging from oversized clocks to Edvard Munch's “The Scream.” The documentary Come Rain or Shine tracks the quintet from their first rehearsals in 15 years through the “Turn It on Again” 2007 tour. Along the way, doc filmmaker Anthony Mathile interviews the members and incorporates footage from throughout Genesis' career, including Peter Gabriel's stint with the group (1967-75). Presented in DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo, DVD extras include 20 behind-the-scenes clips (most 2-4 minutes long), deleted scenes, a tour program slideshow, a photo gallery, and a booklet. Sure to appeal to fans, this is recommended. [Note: at present, this is a WalMart exclusive title, although some sellers on Amazon are offering new copies for sale.] Aud: P. (K. Fennessy)
