Good Food, Good Business features a collection of interviews with organic food growers, sustainability experts, and professional chefs, who all discuss how agricultural products reach markets and consumers. Perhaps because produce on average travels 1,300 miles before being placed in a shopping cart, farmers' markets across the country are growing in popularity (fruits and veggies are not only tastier when fresh, but buying from a local farmer enriches the area's economy). In addition, when farmers meet with chefs, they both come away with a better understanding of each other's needs. For instance, one chef explains that he now understands that some growers cannot afford to offer organic-certified produce because they need to spray fungicide in order for seedlings to survive (the chef has therefore opted to buy some locally grown, freshest-of-the-fresh produce over organically grown items shipped from farther away). Unfortunately, very informative facts meant to complement the interviews are presented across the bottom of the screen in very small type, which will force some middle-aged viewers to freeze and zoom in order to read them. Still, this is an informative look at a contemporary hot button issue, overall. Recommended. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)
