Bizarre? Yes. Tasteful? Definitely not. Heart Attack Theatre, originally run on cable TV in 1991-'93, offers a wacky world of gynecologists bearing chain saws, women who transform into frogs, and nutty nurses who bludgeon their patients' legs, á la Kathy Bates in Misery. In nine zany vignettes, which include such titles as "Gut Reaction," "Beast," "Pen Pal," and "An Inconvenient Whore," writer/producer/director Kelly Hughes creates comically insane, yet hauntingly cheesy characters. This low-budget, indie film is raw to the core, with poor production and strained amateur acting. Beware. It takes a twisted mind to want to suffer through this painful Attack. Not recommended. (M. K. Lau)
