Jerusalem, the Holy City, the cradle of Christianity, destination of countless pilgrims down through the ages, continues to hold a fascination for religious and secular observers alike. This program, the first in a series of five tapes, zeroes in on three religious communities which have sprung up and flourished within Jerusalem's walls: 1) the Greek Orthodox Church, 2) the Armenians, and 3) the Roman Catholic Church. Each is given an overview detailing its history, culture, and beliefs. The camera lingers on some of the world's greatest treasures, including the Holy Sepulcher, contained in a 4th century church built by Constantine; and the San Salvador monastery, the center of the Franciscan order. Although the program is a bit slow-paced, the visuals and narration are clear and precise. Recommended. (See SITTING IN LIMBO for availability.)
