Just as surfing inspired the skateboarding renaissance of the late '70s, today's extreme skier is just as likely to be influenced by motocross racing as by fellow shredders on the slopes. Combining interviews and more jaw-dropping footage than you can shake a shark-bitten surfboard at (with a nice balance of successful and failed attempts), filmmaker Tamra Davis's (CB4, Crossroads) Keep Your Eyes Open is an eye-candy paean to the world of "X-treme sports." Brother and sister snowboarders Mike and Tina Basich (who seem to get on well) and surfer brothers Andy and Bruce Irons (who have a reputation for fighting with each other) are among the featured athletes in this adrenaline-pumping showcase of snowboarding, skiing, surfing, BMX, motocross, and skateboarding highlights. Capturing the zeitgeist nicely, one interviewees says: “It's not a death wish--I just like livin'.” Indeed. Rated PG-13 for language and drug references, this DVD-only release includes a commentary track with Tina Basich and director Davis, extended interviews, and deleted scenes. Recommended. Aud: P. (C.
