This is the story of one man's heart attack. Charles Cook, aged 41, was the victim of a heart attack, and recipient of a new treatment involving the injection of the enzyme TPA. His story, as he recalls it two years later with comments from his wife and children, is interspersed with interview footage of the University of Michigan Medical Center doctors who saved his life. In addition, Thomas Johnson, a doctor in Framingham, MS talks about the long-term study on heart disease being conducted there, and gives general pointers on how to live longer (proper diet, regular exercise). It's difficult to put one's finger on exactly what's wrong with this film. The information is good, the story commands sympathy, and nothing is presented in a gimmicky manner. Maybe, in this day and age of technological wizardry with the camera, it's just a little too straightforward for its own good. This title's not especially recommended, though other titles in the series may be very well done. Other titles include: Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, Glaucoma, etc. (See THE GREAT AMERICAN EXPERIENCE for availability.)
