Ron Rolheiser (see Spirituality and the Two Halves of Life [VL-1/05]), a prolific author and speaker specializing in contemporary spirituality, is filmed live at King's House Retreat and Renewal Center in Belleville, IL, where he presents a three-part exploration of what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God. Drawing on the wisdom of philosophers, scholars, theologians, and writers (not all of whom are believers), while also citing references to pop icons in addition to Scripture, Rolheiser talks about how we experience the divine fire within us, how we struggle with the tension of this energy that can either lead us to greatness or self-destruction, and ways in which we can live a more healthy spiritual life. Rolheiser is a great communicator, peppering his serious message with up-to-the minute humorous asides, and even though he is a Roman Catholic priest, the material is not sectarian, but rather Christian in general. Indeed, anyone interested in exploring inner spirituality, regardless of religious orientation, might find this worthwhile watching. Recommended. Aud: C, P. (J. Reed)
