Reviewing the legacy of Martin Luther King nearly thirty years after his death, this video finds (not surprisingly) much of his dream unfulfilled, due to the persistence of poverty, unemployment, and racial discrimination. Unfortunately, this disorganized, unfocused documentary which jumps from Selma to Chicago to Memphis, shuttling between past and present, lacks a clear narrative, robbing King's story of much of its power. Andrew Young, the late Ralph Abernathy and other veterans who stood with King in his long struggle all make valuable contributions, but this video isn't up to the high standards of Eyes on the Prize or King: a Filmed Record...Montgomery to Memphis. An optional purchase. Aud: C, P. (S. Rees)
