Mighty Mo: The Battleship U.S.S. Missouri

Despite the many successes of the United States Navy over the past years, most people would be hard-pressed to name individual warships. Certainly, the U.S.S. Constitution (‘Old Ironsides') would be mentioned, some would ‘Remember the ‘Maine', and others would recall their somber visit to the ‘Arizona' memorial at Pearl Harbor. Added to this list of memorable ships would be the U.S.S. ‘Missouri', commonly known as ‘Mighty Mo' and in this remarkably detailed 3-part video set, viewers will come to know the heart and soul of the ‘Missouri.' Best known as the site where the Pacific War ended with the signing of a treaty by America and Japan, the ‘Missouri' also saw action in the Korean War and the Gulf War of 1991. Men who served aboard her give first-hand accounts of life on this formidable battleship; comments from enlisted men and officers, alike, each praising the ‘Missouri' in their own terms. The historical footage of WWII, the signing of the peace treaty, the return to service during the Korean conflict, her final appearance in the Persian Gulf, and the emotional retirement at Pearl Harbor on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the attack is powerful stuff (some of it has recently been de-classified and never before shown to public audiences).
