"Seeing the light, woman calls cross on bathroom window a sign from God." "Pilgrims report divine crosses in bathroom window." No, I wasn't reading this in the checkout line at the supermarket, but in the promotional material that accompanied this account of what some call a miracle. During a two-week period in May of 1988, glowing crosses were seen in the windows of 12 homes, all within blocks of each other in a California neighborhood. The crosses all exhibited similar patterns and those who saw them reported a sense of energy and resultant feelings of peace, healing and strength, and even suggested that the Messiah had returned. Since then the phenomenon has spread both in the U.S. and abroad. The topic is given even-handed coverage here, with comments coming from witnesses of various beliefs, as well as scientific and religious experts who neither dismiss nor vet the evidence. Mildly interesting as sociology, this is still pretty optional. Aud: P. (J. Reed)
