Joyce, Shaw, even newcomer Frank McCourt has left indelible imagery in the minds of many people who have never laid eyes on the Emerald Island. Set to a soundtrack of lovely music composed and arranged by Rojo, Over Ireland features aerial views of Ireland (filmed in HDTV), paired with purple prose ("where the sea scribbles white waves on the ancient layered rock face"). Along with brief overviews of Ireland's history and culture, this filmed helicopter ride offers up views of lofty bluffs, lush farmlands, decrepit old castles, golf courses, and small hamlets from the Cliffs of Moher to Shannon River to Limerick and more. Part documentary, part new age stress reduction, this is recommended for larger collections where travel tapes get plenty of mileage. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
