Although I'm a mountain biking virgin, this video quickly convinced me that mountain biking is an inherently hip sport. As Performance Mountain Biking explains, a good biker relating to a good bike can defy gravity, navigate inhospitable terrain with aplomb, and pop wheelies, too. The intent of this video is to help intermediate bikers sharpen the fundamental skills of interacting with a bike, distributing body weight, and controlling body position and angle. These basics enable bikers to develop strategies for breaking, climbing, and switchbacks (short angle, sudden turns). The sinewy Ned Overend and his friends host the video, but Ned's more moving target than talking head. He doesn't waste time waxing philosophical on the rapture of mountain biking; he hits the trail running, assuming an already motivated viewer. With neon graphics, punchy house music, and fittingly energetic camera work, this video transmits biking techniques with vigorous precision. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (A. Laker)
