To say that for under twenty dollars you can learn about military operations that up until very, VERY recently were Top Secret would be an understatement. The Air Force base I work at--Vandenberg--is one of the main topics of this video and when I mention the word "Corona" even today there are people who furtively look around for Russian spies. What you will see in Spies Above is, quite simply, some of the best kept secrets of the Cold War. Narrated by The X-File's Gillian Anderson, the Discovery Channel was allowed to film inside the C.I.A. and given access to photographs taken from space that had not seen the light of day in close to thirty years. During the frostiest moments of the Cold War, U.S. intelligence realized that the Soviet military threat was not as great as was once believed, but in order to keep the aerospace and defense industries humming, this information was largely ignored or deliberately withheld from policy makers. Spies Above deserves to be seen by anyone concerned about just how much influence defense industries have over the decision-making process in our country. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice.
